Recharge your gizmos with Solar energy

Recharge your gizmos with Solar energy
A new solar cell that converts sunlight to energy has been launched in variety of consumer products. The technology used in this is a photosensitive dye to start its energy production which is same as the leaves using chlorophyll to begin photosynthesis. This dye sensitive cell can be used to give power to various devices like e-book readers, cell phone etc. The cell can be found in thin, flexible panels stitched to the reader’s cover in the e-book readers. These panels can be placed in new lines of backpacks and sports bags which will help recharge cell phones and music players.

The photovoltaic cells are based on silicon or any such inorganic materials not the dyes as discussed. The panels will be placed on the covers which are designed for the accessory for Sony e-book readers. These covers are going to cost around $99 which would be made available to the customers in the month of March. The cover will supply power through a plug in a cradle along its spine. You can find the panels installed in the tennis bags, backpacks and messenger bags which have battery chargers within. The prices of these bags will depend on the material used and the size of the bag. Enjoy the heat with solar energy.

It was beneficial to have open source for Symbian platform. The five ways to prove that they are beneficial for the smartphone platform:

1. NOKIA : The transition from open source has benefited a lot to Nokia as it increases the efficiency of the wanning platform and that too without any investment from Nokia. Nokia has been developing new devices based on its Linux-based Maemo platform. In spite of this it will definitely gain marketing and public relations boosts from its relationship with Symbian and all its contribution to the development of the smartphone platform.

2. SMARTPHONE MANUFACTURERS : This acts as an alternative to the Google’s Android which is good for the smartphone manufacturers. Android has shown that an open source mobile operating system can work very well as it enables smartphone vendors to customize the OS. It also enables one to develop robust devices at much cheaper price as it doesn’t have associated licensing fees.

3. DEVELOPERS :It’s quite beneficial for the developers as it opens up a huge market for them. It’s not quite as popular as the iPhone App Store but it’s hard to ignore the potential customers it has.

Apple vs Google: Apple Bans the Word Android from App Store

Apple vs Google: Apple Bans the Word Android from App Store

Apple has found a new way of taking revenge from Google as they have banned the word “Android” from their application store. This incident happened with a developer when his application gets rejected because he has “Android” word in the description of the application. Condition was made that if he drops the word from description the app will be allowed. The approval process of Apple is a tough one which leaves developers in dilemma as to why their apps were rejected. They received a notice from Apple’s app approval department stating that when they reviewed the product they found the application having inappropriate or irrelevant platform information in the application description.

To be more precise Apple isn’t banning Android apps or code it’s just banning the word ‘Android’. The big question is why Apple worried about a developer mentioning an award that his app won. It’s obvious that Apple wants to forgo some sales so that it can hide that Flash of Genius is also available on a competing app store.

It was foolish move in the part of Apple to give Android importance in the first place. This banning of word Android will give the Android market loads of publicity which will in turn draw more inevitable comparisons between Nexus one, droid etc. and the iPhone.

No Multitasking in iPad

No Multitasking in iPad
Apple is known for its remarkable products which include iPhone, iPod, Mac book etc. The list is very long and every product is a big hit. Recently Apple has launched its new product iPad, also known as iSlate. People were waiting for this product as badly as they wait generally for other apple products. But when launched it actually disappoints users as it has certain basic features missing and one of them is multitasking. Multitasking is a basic feature which helps user to do multiple things at the same time. The user can listen to music while browsing the Web, or look for direction and talk to friends and many more stuffs like this.

The makers give the argument that it’s made for the casual users who don’t need to five things at the same time. So the multitasking feature isn’t necessary. Apple here is actually isn’t selling a computer or multi touch so the iPad is good with its magical screen minus the multitasking. More over multitasking hasn’t been working great on other appliances. Apple hasn’t experimented with multitasking yet because of the Android implementation of multitasking. So, you need to close every application before you run a new application.

How to make the iPad a better music device

How to make the iPad a better music device
After the launch of Apple’s iPad many were disappointed with its features. Many are thinking it to be an over priced gadget. The iPad can be made better with few changes here and there.

  • In iPad you can’t share music files from another computer over your home network. You have to physically connect the iPad to your computer and then share it through wire. Wireless sync is a good option for this. This not only shares music files but also pictures, videos, and other apps.
  • The iPad has memory storage of only 16 GB which is very less for the music lovers and not enough if you want other functions like E-books and pictures. The Lala Acquisition is also a good idea as then you don’t need to upload music files every time. You can easily sync the music files from computer to Lalas’s online music locker service.
  • There are many sophisticated DJ apps for the iPhone which allows you to play two songs at the same time and then mix them together. With the 9.7 inch iPad this app would be great to use but then you don’t have the option to play songs you have loaded but you need to reload them into DJ apps. This is quite a limitation which should be looked after.
  • iPad should have queuing option so that other songs could be loaded to now playing queue.
  • iPad would work wonders if it had decent speakers. The speaker of iPad sounded no better than iPhone.
