Get Smart With Your Windows Vista

Although Windows Vista could not bring much anticipation from the computer world as much as the hype was created but still… some of the computer users after getting their hardware upgraded seems to pretty much like the new Vista edition.

For all the Vista users, I found some awesome tips to save time with your Windows Vista. For Windows XP optimization check out this post.

- With Windows Vista, you can send an email right from your desktop. You can save time by not browsing to your account and create a shortcut to send an email to your most frequent person. To do this, create a new email shortcut on desktop and type in mailto: followed by your recipient’s email address like mailto:admin@gravityblue.com. Click the Next button and give a name to your shortcut and then select finish. When you are done a new shortcut would appear in your desktop on which you can double click and send an email easily. You can also change the mailto: email address in place of a different persons email address.

- To save all that time clicking through different windows to check the status of your internet connection, you can easily create a shortcut on your desktop. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections, and then right click on the connection you want to check the status of and select create shortcut. And you are done, for the next time, you can easily double click that shortcut on your desktop and check the status of you network connection. You can also create multiple shortcuts for your different connections.

- This is for all the readers on Gravity Blue. You can easily get your favorite site on your desktop. Open your favorite site i.e. Gravity Blue and then drag the small icon that appears to the left side of the address bar to your desktop and you are done. Next time you want to check out the updates on Gravity Blue, you can easily double click that icon on your desktop.

- Check out the some awesome gadgets at the Live Gallery site, and you will fine awesome tools to help speed up your work using Windows Vista. I found the App Launcher really useful. It creates a sidebar on your desktop that helps launching your most frequently used applications. Like if you use Winamp to listen music, then you can put in the Winamp icon to this sidebar, rather finding it each time…

- Launchy is an amazing tool which helps finding your installed application and launch them easily. You can access Launchy by using the Alt and Space bar and then type in the application name and then hit Enter. You can even use it for searching files or finding websites, like if you type in “goo”, it will open up Google. You can download this awesome tool here.
