Yes, Gravity Blue just got a new theme. Thanks to releaseLive for sharing this theme in his post. The theme is really simple, an awesome blend of white, grey and orange, I totally loved it. I will also be adding the multi language availability feature, so that people who have problem reading English will now be able to select their respective countries to find the posts translated to their language.
Well, let’s get on with the post. Earlier I shared with you guys on making a custom installation CD for Windows XP to easily get your computer on the previous working conditions with all your applications installed after you install the fresh copy of windows and today, ill be telling you guys on installting a fresh copy on Windows Vista using your USB drive.
To begin with, you will need a minimum of 3GB USB flash drive to get yourself ready for copying installation files onto.
Once you have the USB drive, first thing is to format it, use NTFS to format. It is highly recommended so that all the previous data or any viruses are removed.
To format your USB drive, plug it in, right click Computer in the start menu, select manage. Select Disk Management under Storage in left column. Right click the USB drive in the bottom of the Computer Management window and select Format. Also, make sure you select the right disk to format and formatting will erase all the data on the USB drive. Select the File System to NTFS and click OK to format. It will take couple of minutes for the process to complete.
Once the formatting is done, next step is to set the USB drive’s Volume to active. If you don’t get it, it is okay, don’t get scared, I will guide you on doing this. It is really easy.
Open Command Prompt (make sure you have administrative privileges) by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, and right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
Type in ‘diskpart’ in the command prompt and then hit Enter on your keyboard. Type the list of volume and press enter. Find the USB drive in the list of volume, I am considering Volume 3. Select the volume by typing ‘select Volume X’ (where X represents the volume number of the USB drive) and hit enter. Set the volume as active by typing ‘active’ and hit enter and you are done. You can close the command prompt now.
Next up is to create boot sector on the USB Drive. Here you will need a utility called ‘bootsect.exe’ which can be found in any Windows Vista DVD in the boot folder. Copy ‘bootsect.exe’ from the Windows Vista Installation disk to ‘C:WindowsSystem32’ in your computer. Once your copy it on your computer type ‘bootsect/nt60 X:’ (Where X represents the USB drive letter) in your address bar and hit enter.
Once all the above steps are done, it is almost the finishing stuff left behind, including copying of Vista Installation Files to the USB drive.
To begin with, insert the Windows Vista installation DVD and Open Computer from the Start Menu. Right click the DVD drive (the Vista installation DVD) and select explore. Copy all the files from the Vista installation DVD and paste them in the USB drive and now you are done. Next time, you won’t need your Vista Installation DVD. Cheers.
