Yes people, the wait is over at last as Apple unveils in much awaited iPhone OS 3.0 on 18th March and it comes loaded with the requested features by the people for iPhone and iPod Touch.
Following are few of the new features which the new update comes with.
- With the new iPhone OS 3.0, you can download content with applications like you can buy extended features offered by an application or in game.
- iPhone OS 3.0 enables Peer-to-Peer connectivity to other iPhones; you can play multiplayer games on with other iPhones through Bluetooth. I am still not sure if you can connect your iPhone with other Bluetooth supporting hand sets.
- Improved Map are promised in the update with which users can add custom notes and view in hybrid or satellite images. Plus with the collaboration with Google, developers are working to develop even better Maps application for iPhone users.
- Notifications for various applications have been added.
- Background processes has still not been added to the upgrade as Apple believes that background processes drains a lot of battery not is not offered yet.
- EA, leader in gaming industry, plans to release 10 games for iPhone, The Sims 3 being on the list.
- The much awaited feature of Cut/Copy and Paste is at last made to the public.
- Keyboard will now be available on most of the application which requires typing. Previously, it was only available for mailing and messaging application.
- Message forwarding (at last!) and Multimedia Messaging is also enabled.
- The new search interface has been introduced in iPhone OS 3.0, Spotlight will let you search anything from your iPhone, its more like a search app and comes really handy.
- Also, with the latest upgrade, users can customize EQ for your music playing needs and control a FM radio.
The latest update comes free of charge for the iPhone users but for the iPod Touch users, they will have to pay $10 to get the update. The public downloading will be available in Summer.
