Open Folder Using A Keyboard Shortcut
I use my music folder quite often and whenever I download a new song, firefox usually downloads it to the desktop and each time, I have to open the music folder on my local hard drive and copy the song to that folder so all my songs are sorted under the same folder.
If you use a same particular folder and you are irritated by open the folder, the same old length way, then making a shortcut for that folder comes really handy, a few taps on your keyboard easily opens the folder.
Lets begin with making a shortcut:
- First, open Windows Explorer from, Start > All Programs > Accessories, and then select Windows Explorer.
- In Windows Explorer, find the folder you want to make a shortcut for, for me, I’ll use my music folder to create a shortcut. Once you find the folder, right-click on it, select Send To, and click Desktop.

- Now go to your desktop, there you will see the shortcut, for me, it is “Shortcut to Music”.
- Right-click on it, and select properties. A new windows will appear which would look something like this:

- Click the field, Shortcut and “CTRL + ALT” would appear, add your desired keyboard shortcut and select OK.
Now to test your shorcut, hold CTRL + ALT + <your shorcut>, and the folder will appear.
You can move the shortcut from your desktop to anywhere you want to make your desktop clean but the shortcut will remain intact and will work smooth.
