Nokia Goes Wireless Charging
Nokia has been pushing the cell phone technology every single time they introduce something for the world, and this time they came out with the idea of wireless charging. No wires at all.
Nokia is working on a technology which harvests ambient radio waves from the air, and turns that energy into usable power.
Nokia originates the idea from the radio, TV and cell phones transmission waves which exist all around us and use them to charge the nokia phone. Nokia phone picks up these waves and uses the electromagnetic energy to generate electrical current for the battery to charge.
Now the question here which remains is, what frequencies will the nokia phone use to charge itself, cause there are thousands of waves that exsist around us with all different frequences, will nokia phones use a specific or come up with new technolgy to use a range of frequencies.
Initially, the nokia prototype phone is not that efficient on harvesting the electromagnetic energy from near by to convert it to effecient use. Currently Nokia is able to harvest 5 milliwatts from the air, the goal is to push it to 20 milliwatts and later to 50 milliwatts.
This idea is not currently for active phone calls, it works to keep your phone from dying out and plans to make the idea for public use in 3 to 5 years and who knows, in a few years, Nokia might even find some way to charge the phones directly from these electromagnetic waves or even use the solar energy so we can dumb our old chargers for good!
