batteryThere are billions of mobile phone users who are making and receiving thousands of calls per second and most of the time what stops them from receiving or making calls is a dead battery which really irritates you when you desperately need your phone.

I found a few solutions with which you can extend your phone battery life so that your phone stays powered for a longer time before you plug it in for a recharge.

1. Recharge your battery when its displays low battery. Why? Lithium Ion battery depends on the charge cycles, which means the number of charges you can make to a battery till its recharging ability is exhausted. When you recharge your phone battery when its half empty it counts as a recharge cycle and most of the batteries comes with a recharge cycle of 400, which means you can recharge the battery 400 times after which the battery performance will not be efficient. Also do not leave your phone uncharged for more than 2 months, so that the electrons in the battery keeps moving freely.

2. Never let your phone to excessive heat. The optimum operating conditions of the battery is 10 – 35 C and it advised you never let your phone to direct sunlight or to freezing temperatures.

3. Turn off applications you are not using like games or any other application running on your phone. Even if you are not using these applications, they are running as a background process and are using up your battery. Also turn off your Bluetooth and other wireless connections like Wi-Fi when you are not using them.

4. Turn off vibrating alerts. Vibrations use a lot of battery resources, and its better you use a ring tone only instead of using vibrating alerts and ring tones both. It is good to use vibrating alerts in a library or at a meeting but other than that try disabling this feature. Also, disable the keypad tones, there are of no use.

5.  Reduce the screen brightness on your phone. Illuminating the display screen uses a lot of battery resources and if you have a big screen phones like iPhone, they drain your battery even faster. It is advised to reduce the screen brightness and set the time out feature to low, maybe 5 or 10 seconds so that screen turns off quickly after use.

6. Avoid using animated screen savers and wallpapers on your phone screen. Although they look really pretty but eat up a lot of your battery power.

7. Try not playing games on your phone. When you are playing game, a lot of things are being processed which uses a lot of battery power. It is advised to stick to listening music or radio rather playing games on your phone.

8. Disable the automatic update features on your phone. Each time any application checks for updates on the internet every 1 hour, and downloads them, they uses a lot of your battery. It is better that once you have a full charged phone, update all the application at one and later disable the automatic update feature.

9.  Turn off your 3G features whenever you are not using them. 3G features enhances the browsing experience but even if you turn them off you can browse the internet with GPRS or EDGE services on your phone.

10. Turn off your phone or put it in flight mode whenever your are out of network coverage or even weak network coverage because whenever you are out of network coverage, your phone constantly tries to establish a connection with the network which uses a lot of battery resources.

I hope all the above information helps you extend your phone battery so that it does not give up on you whenever you need it most. Also check out the other article we shared about extending laptop battery life and drop in a comment if you have ideas on saving battery power. =)
